Bye bye full frame, back to cropped…

I ended up returning my 5D, it was a great camera, but it was more than I needed.  I think I’m getting too practical in my old age.  I figured for the price, I could get a 50D and a new lens, but I got 2 new lenses 🙂 .  Anyways, here’s some test shots (click on Parker’s photo) and I’m VERY happy with the decision.  The 50D is an incredible camera and the LCD screen is so detailed.

It's not a Mark II, but it's full frame…

Picked this up at Fry’s tonight, it’s an awesome camera (Canon 5D, if you didn’t figure it out from the title).  Everything was taken at 1600 ISO, with no flash.  I love having the full-frame, check out the test pics…  Keep in mind some pics are slightly out of focus, I don’t have the steadiess of hands, but some of the pics of Tobi are AWESOME! 🙂 Click on this picture below to see the set.

BTW X-mas came early this year 🙂

My 2 fun flights to China

So Tuesday I boarded another United 747 for China, which would be my 3rd flight to China since June.  Little did I know what was soon to come…

Flight #1 to Hong Kong

Boarded the flight left the runway about 1:25 pm, then the pilot said we had to turn-back to get an airleak fixed.  We sat in the airplane at the gate, which initially was suppose to be a 20 min fix turn in, unloading the plane twice, then a re-schedule for a 6 pm departure since the flight crew went passed their normal hours.  Along my 5 hour wait, I experienced a HOT plane, due to the air conditioner not working and a chinese man taking off his shirt, leaving him with his white undershirt tank-top.  He also was burping very nicely and eating a peach that ended up with him pulling out his toothpick and making all kind of sucking sounds.

Finally at 6 pm, we loaded up the plane and started our journey to China.  Unfortunately for me, my friendly Chinese friend kept moving and hitting me about every 30 min, so I really didn’t get any rest.  Here’s some pics of the angry crowds:

Flight #2 to Shanghai

So from Hong Kong, I had to take a domestic filght to Shanghai on Dragon Air.  Trip went really well, up until the end.  I was pretty much waken up to a gagging sound accross the isle.  A young lady started throwing up on our decent, it wasn’t pretty.

Well I’m in Suzhou now and nothing fun to report.  I’ll update when I get some exciting news like my fights

Journey with the PI frontman and Heart

So Melanie and I saw Journey for the 3rd time without Steve Perry last night.  2 times with Steve Augeri and last night was with the new frontman Arnel Pineda, who was found on YouTube and from the Philippines.  Arnel’s voice is so close to Steve Perry’s that you can’t tell it’s not the original Journey.  The only thing odd for me is you have this short filipino with a bunch of old rockers, the mix is strange, but a very entertaining concert.

Heart was INCREDIBLE!  It’s the first time I’ve seen them, other than watching a concert in HD on TV.  Ann and Nancy Wilson were Awesome!  I’m really glad I was able to see them live.

I took some videos and pictures with my phone, so the quality isn’t the best, but good enough for the flickr photo archives.  Click on the picture below to see the set.

Back to China, September 2008

So I’ve been managing a project in China for Zazzle, I went for Zazzle the first time in June 2008 and it was a CraZy trip.  Well I’m back, it’s not quite as hectic, but still very busy!  I’ll probably have another 2 trips in the next year, so here’s some pictures from my trip this Sept.

View from my hotel, click it for more misc. pics I took with my camera phone

Food pictures I take when eating out of the different dishes in China.  I had this tasty Taro Pie at McDonald’s this time around.  Click on it for more food pics.

Exciting New Zazzle Website!

Last night the QA team that I work with at Zazzle pushed our newly designed Zazzle website, I do QA in manufacturing, so I wasn’t part of last night’s release, but I was online with them when the site went live.  My work starts today with logo changes on our end products.

It looks AMAZING, our Creative Director, Darren, and his team did an amazing job!  Major props to QA, engineering, and network operations on the release.  Check it out when you have a chance, I think you’ll agree.  It’s www.zazzle.com or just click on the thumbnail below.

Projekt Revolution 2008

Today Melanie and I and our two friend’s Danny and Katie went to Linkin Park’s “Projekt Revolution” tour 2008 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA.  My cousin Ed is the photographer for the “Meet and greet”, pretty much a contest where people get to meet members of the bands.  Ed was able to get us back stage to meet “Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Audio Slave front man)” and “Linkin Park”.

The coolest part of this day was hanging out with my cousin Ed and seeing what he does, it’s really cool seeing him enjoy life and being able to hang out with him on tour.  Below are 3 pictures from our meet and greet’s.

The BEST, posted bathroom sign

I was at the PI (Philippine) Consulate in San Fransico and couldn’t resist taking a picture of this sign that was posted to the left of the toilet, just read the 1st two lines and I guaratee you’ll laugh…  Image is below.

PI Cousultate Toilet Sign

If you don’t get it, then take a look at this picture and I think you’ll associate the request.  BTW, this is a toilet in China, the sign above was posted in a US bathroom on what “NOT” to do with the western toilet.
