Vacation’s over

So I had a great week off, my mom came out and hung out until Friday, then Melanie and I went to Guerneville to visit an old friend where Melanie partied a little too much! Saturday we went to Clos du Bois with some of Melanie’s friends and had some wine, cheese, and salami.

Melanie and I joined Weight Watcher’s last week and we’re both on our way to eating healthier, we went to our first follow-up meeting and results were great, both Melanie and I lost weight on our first week, YAY!

Now that vacation is over I had my first day at my new job today. It’s really fun and exciting, not that installing Linux would be much fun for many people, but I love learning new things! I also found out we have our 1st annual company picnic this Sat. which is at Great America, very cool!

Not another job

Yes, that’s right, I have another job. All my friend’s and family can’t keep up with where I work, but hopefully I’ll be at this company for a while. Why did I get another job? I can explain this with 2 words “start-up” and “commute”.

My old company Simple Star is based in San Francisco, which is about a 1 – 1 1/2 hour commute (depending on traffic) each way. It was very much a start-up company and with the long hours at work, plus commuting was really hard on me.

The sad part about me leaving is it’s a really cool company and I’m sure they will be extremely successful. If you’re looking for really easy photo software, go try PhotoShow Deluxe 4, here’s the link:

Now onto info about my new job…

My new job is in Mountain View about a 15 min commute for me and I’m a QA Consultant (hopefully I’ll be permanent soon). The company is Centrify and we create software that allows computer’s with different operating systems (mac/linux/unix) to communicate with a component on Windows 2003 Servers called Active Directory. Kind of confused? Pretty much the software allows these other types of computers to use a Windows server environment.

I’m really excited about this opportunity since I get to test networking enviroments which has always interested me. Here’s some pictures of my new digs and the building:

A great 4th of July!

Wow! This was a very filled weekend. My buddy Jack (Who design’s some awesome speakers at NHT) got married Sunday. We had a cool Bachelor Party at the Go-kart race track, then he had a great wedding where I saw all the old NHT gang. Congrats Jack and Erika!

The other activity we went to is our yearly 4th of July at the Bothwell’s. It was fun, like every year, but this year we got a surprise. Our buddy Jon Lewis flew out from Atlanta, GA (he’s a pilot for ATA airline, so it’s free) and surprised all of us. It was great to see him.

So if you interested in checking out the picture click on the link below. I hope you all had a happy 4th 2005…

Indy 500

So my neighbor who I bumped into while walking Tobi goes to the Indy 500 every year. He’s been going since 1948 and has only missed 2 races due to the military. Jed sent me some pictures of this year,s rece where Danicka Patrick was the first women to place in the top 5 (she finished 4th, but was 1st at one point). Check out the pictures.

Building a swing set for Sydney

So last week my buddy Steve told me he was going to build a swing set for for his daughter Sydney. It sounded like a fun project, so I volunteered to help. We thought it would only take a day, but after about 7 hours on Saturday we still weren’t finished. Steve finished it up on Sunday and man is that thing cool! Check out the pictures of the swing set we built.

We’re back from Europe!

Hey Everyone,

So Melanie and I are back from Europe. What a great time we had–we definitely learned to relax and just enjoy. Our favorite country was Italy, the people the country and everything about Italy was wonderful. We spent most of our time there and we were both kinda sad when we left Italy to leave for Switzerland and France.

Melanie wasn’t so happy with Switzerland since she got sick there, but it was beautiful and during our stay all the mountains were covered with snow. I went snowboarding which was awesome, took me over an hour to complete 1 run, part of the reason is probably because I’m out of shape 🙂 It actually snowed our last night there, which was very cool.

France, well… France was just OK for us. We kinda felt it was a little too comercialized and man, were there a ton of us Americans over there. In otherwords, one visit will hold us over for a while. The sites were beautiful and the Eiffel, Art de Triomphe, and Notre Dame are just breath taking. We decided to got out of Paris for a day and see the country side, so we visited Beaune (pronounced “boon” for us english speaking folks). It part of their wine country and it was a cool quaint town. Oh ya, I forgot to mentioned the museums, the art is awesome! I saw a lot of the art that I studied in my History of Art class in college.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings, if you want to check out our pictures click here.
